"My only criterion is that the writing has to feel alive."
Aside from the many great things about your writing, I think this is why I find myself touched and inspired. It *feels* real and alive. Writing like that can only come from a place of deep presence.
For the past few years, I've been finding myself more drawn to the idea of writing on a regular basis (a journal to start off) but I've never quite committed. I don't think I can resist anymore. I want to write like you; I want to write from that place of presence. Thank you for the inspiration :))
Thank you Arshaq! Journaling is great and I’m glad you feel inspired to start. I’ve found it extremely helpful over the years for training my attention to the present. (I wrote a post a while back about what it’s done for me, not sure if you’ve seen it.)
> The wingspan of the present is too narrow to sustain a deeply meaningful life. It is not sufficient to be relieved of our fragmentation. To reach into our unique pasts while glancing at the unactualized future is to balance the scale of the present and guide our actions. We look backward and forward not to grasp at regrets or future threats, but to stitch ourselves into the chronology of our own lives in a way that enables flight.
